DANICA RAE CALO SANTOS, 7 YRS OLD, AND ROSALIE GRACE CHEE, 13 YRS OLD, HOLD AN ART EXHIBIT FOR THE BENEFIT OF JVP
by Shy Calo-Santos

Once again, the members of the JVP-CDO local community had their hands full as they assisted two young artists in launching their works. On December 9, 2004, Danica Rae Calo Santos (daughter of Shy Calo-Santos, batch 10) and Rosalie Grace Chee unveiled their wonderful paintings for the public to view and buy in an art exhibit entitled “Of Nature and Children” at the Grand Caprice Restaurant, Cagayan de Oro City. The proceeds of the exhibit will go to the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc.

The event began with a simple and cozy program where Grace Milar (Batch 8,9), the JVP-CDO local chairperson, presented the profile of the JVPFI beneficiary. She was able to capture the hearts of the audience as she shared her JVP story to them. The program proper culminated with the unveiling of the paintings.

The guests gasped at the beauty of the works of these children. They couldn’t believe their eyes as they gazed at the paintings and stared at the artists! “So young! Yet…such achievement!” they exclaimed.

The artists, on the other hand took things very, very lightly. Rosalie was in a corner, entertaining her barkada, and Danica was among friends tossing the bouquet of flowers she received earlier that evening, and playing tag with them. They enjoyed the moment especially when they realized that they brought smiles to the faces of the viewers. They knew they made a lot of people happy that day.

At the end of the day, JVP-CDO received Php 18,600.00 from these two painters who are the youngest donors of the foundation. Thank you Danica and Rosalie for your generosity.
