The yearlong celebration of JVP's Volunteer Service Program's 25 th anniversary culminated with the Silver Homecoming in Tonglen Beach Resort in Boracay last April 22-24, 2005. Close to a hundred former JVP volunteers attended the homecoming and participated in the Special General Assembly. It was a wonderful opportunity to rekindle friendships and build new ones with the aspiration to form a community of volunteers, former volunteers, and associates who will remain steadfast in promoting the mission of JVP to build a just society.

One former volunteer wrote:

I'd like to thank you for organizing the JVP Silver Homecoming. Attending it was like coming home. I felt warmth, had fun, and it renewed and affirmed my commitment to a life of service, simplicity, spirituality…I was inspired by the stories of the "oldies and made happy by the "bagets" taking the initiative to take care of our bags, pillows, sheets, etc. (in the boat going home to Manila ). These things could have been taken care of individually, but with JVP, it was not to happen that way.

After my year of service, I felt like I wanted to cling to the feeling of my JVP year, most especially the OrSem and Midyear seminar, because it was then when I felt most that I was part of a community of people who shared the same ideals as mine." - Katti Sta. Ana, JVP Batch 15

We cannot turn back the hands of time to our volunteer year. We have gone our different ways. Yet, we can still come together now and then in the JVP masses, in sports activities, merienda get-togethers and kumustahan where we can share what's been happening in our lives and how we try, in our own little way, to continue living by the JVP ideals. These times together allow us to get to know one another, and renew, affirm, support and energize one another after the year of volunteer service. Keeping the JVP spirit and bond strong makes JVP not only a year of volunteer service, but also a community we can always call home.

We thank all those who helped to make the Silver Homecoming possible. Major sponsors were the Ateneo Residence Halls, Globe Telecom, Kayumanggi Press Inc., Nito's Auto Supply, the Philippine Star and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.
