Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Launches Joven Ignacio’s Art Cards

The Jesuit Volunteers Philippines (JVP) Foundation, Inc. launches Joven Ignacio’s Art Cards on September 24, 2005 at 4:00 in the afternoon at the Designs Ligna, 4th Floor SM Megamall Building B, Mandaluyong City.

For 26 years, JVP has been recruiting, training, forming and sending fresh college graduates and young professionals to under-resourced institutions and communities in Bukidnon, Masbate, Samar, Naga and other parts of the country. For at least a year, they teach, work in parishes and indigenous communities, and organize farmers, fisherfolk and the youth. JVP is the longest-running volunteer organization of this kind and has sent more than 711 volunteers to more than 200 institutions.

Joven Ignacio supports the work of JVP through the art cards project. Joven is one of the country’s finest naturalist watercolor painters today. To help JVP in its fund-raising efforts, six of his works from his renowned Philippine flowers and birds series will be featured in the all-purpose art cards. Each of the six card designs captures nature’s beauty with its fine details and vibrant colors. The cards come in boxes of three designs with two cards per design.

Proceeds from the sale of the cards will help support four JVP volunteers for one year. The card project is made possible through the support of Art Angel Printshop, Joseph Server & Associates and Designs Ligna.

The cards will be available at the JVP office, Room 313 Bellarmine Hall, Ateneo de Manila University, at Php 150.00/box beginning September 26. They can also be purchased at the Designs Ligna during the launch until supply lasts. By October 1, they will also be available at the Metropolitan Museum and the A-Shop of the Ateneo de Manila University. For inquiries, call the JVP office at 426-5908, 927-9060, or 426-6002 local 4880 or e-mail jvpfi@admu.edu.ph.
