JVP's Volunteer Service Program provides the volunteers
with the necessary support to help the volunteers render
faith-driven and effective service through:
Training - Volunteers are given the proper orientation
and basic training to develop skills that will allow them
to effectively address basic community needs whether as
teachers, formators or development facilitators and catalysts.
Training is given before they leave for their mission areas
and throughout the year.
Formation and
Spiritual Direction - A dedicated team of
formation staff composed of former volunteers and Jesuits
run the seminars and serve as mentors and formators while
two full-time program officers attend to the formation
and program concerns, visiting the volunteer at least twice
a year.
Financial support - Volunteers are provided a monthly
allowance to cover their basic needs (simple board and
lodging). Travel costs to and from the placement areas
and the various seminars are shouldered by JVP. Volunteers
are also provided accident and group life insurance.
Community support - The JVP community nurtures the spirit
of companionship. Current volunteers are supported by their
batchmates, former volunteers, and associates of the Foundation.
Safety and
security guarantee - Prior to the matching
of volunteers to their area of assignment, JVP ensures
the normal safety of the areas of assignment by conducting
thorough social investigations that include site visits
and extensive consultations with the requesting institution
and JVP's network of partners nationwide.
